Algorithm Alphabet

An experimental project that uses an algorithm to choose photographs from the books, In A Cloud, In A Wall, In A Chair: Six Modernists in Mexico at Midcentury, edited by Zoë Ryan, and diagrams from the book, Introduction to Geography, a textbook published in 1951. The images were combined with a definition from The Columbia Dictionary of Modern Literary Criticism to create a series of 26 collages, one for each letter of the alphabet.
